Kieran Harper has taken a promising first step in his 2015 campaign, playing 60 minutes for Werribee in a VFL practice match on Sunday.

Facing a Northern Blues outfit with a host of AFL-listed players, Harper spent the majority of his time playing up forward, kicking a goal and providing pressure around the contest.

“He looked pretty lively,” development coach Jarred Moore told NMFC.com.au.

“We really needed him to get through, show he was moving pretty well and get after the footy a bit.

“He had three shots on goal in the third quarter and he looked pretty good overall. All in all, it was a pretty good performance first up from him.”

Daniel Nielson was the other North-listed player to feature at Ikon Park, playing a full game for the Tigers.

Over the summer the 2014 draftee has been playing as a full back against the likes of Drew Petrie and Jarrad Waite, and utilised the experience of the NAB Challenge clash against Adelaide.

“He lined up on Matthew Watson to start with. He (Watson) kicked one early but apart from that Daniel was really solid,” Moore added.

“It was a good experience for him against a strong forward line.”

Werribee’s next practice match will be on Saturday March 21 against Footscray at Whitten Oval.
