North Melbourne may be in enemy territory, but forward Ben Brown says the Roos are embracing the challenge of playing in front of a hostile crowd.

The number 50 said he and his teammates know they are facing a big test on Thursday night, but were “ready to go”.

“The crowd is really vocal and they all get up and about for it, so it’s going to be a tough one, we know that,” Brown told NMFC.com.au.

“Adelaide has been travelling really well so we are going to have to be really switched on tonight and ready to go.”

With rain forecast throughout the day, slippery conditions were expected at Adelaide Oval for the Round 14 opener.

“(The rain is) definitely something you’ve got to take into account. You can’t really change the conditions, you’ve got to out and play your role for your team no matter what the conditions are on the day.

“It might be a bit rainy, a bit of hail tonight, but you’ve just got to do what you’ve got to do.”

North arrived in Adelaide on Wednesday afternoon, stopping in at Adelaide Oval for a light run at the ground on the way to their hotel.

With the game taking place on Thursday night, the players have plenty of time to check out the sights and sounds of Adelaide, but most will be diligently preparing for the match in their hotel rooms.

Brown said the group was used to time away from home, with players doing their best to stick to a routine.

“It’s a pretty long day, particularly when we have a night game,” Brown said.

“We have our lunch and pre-game meal as the day goes on, but for most of the day you’re either sitting around having a chat or in your hotel room just trying to kill time, or doing any preparation you need to do.

“I think you have to pretty flexible as an AFL player.”
