Daniel Wells has been named in the Werribee VFL development side for Saturday morning’s match against Williamstown.

The Kangaroo will take the next step in his road back from injury after playing just over a quarter last week for North Ballarat.

Despite a brief scare when Wells had a knock to his knee, the veteran has pulled up well and will take his place in the unfamiliar surroundings.

Daniel Currie could return to action, recovered from the foot injury which has kept him out of action since mid-June.

Before the ruckman was sidelined, he had turned in a quality season for the Tigers as their number one ruckman, and one of the best in the entire VFL.

In a huge game for Werribee, it must win to keep its chances of a top-four finish alive. Williamstown, currently second on the ladder, presents a tough challenge.

The last time the sides met in May, it was Werribee who ended victorious by just two points in a thrilling finish.

Will Fordham and Majak Daw were influential in the win. The rookie collected 25 disposals while the key forward kicked three important goals.

After Werribee’s bye last week, it’s North Ballarat’s turn to have a week off, returning for Gerard FitzGerald’s farewell next Saturday at Eureka Stadium.
