AFL Fantasy is back for another season, and the team at Footy Prophet will again be supplying NMFC.com.au with premium fantasy analysis and tips for the 2015 season.

North Melbourne’s Round 1 performance against Adelaide was a disappointment both for footy fans and fantasy coaches, as the Kangaroos’ inability to get into the game was translated into the players’ fantasy results.

Ben Cunnington was North’s best fantasy performer of the week with a score of 95 points coming from 26 disposals and 8 marks. Todd Goldstein finished with 85 points in his battle with Sam Jacobs.

Shaun Atley also put up some decent numbers, playing in a more attacking role. He recorded five inside 50s and laid eight tackles, having never laid more than six in a game before. His score of 84 points for the day was solid without being spectacular. Shaun Higgins had arguably the most impact of any North player, kicking four goals in his first game for the club, and ending with 73 points.

Despite the overall performance, there were a handful of highlights from Kayne Turner, who started as the substitute.

Turner had an impact when he came on, collecting eight disposals and laying two tackles to finish with a score of 36 points from half a game.

Of course, it was his trademark courage that was more impressive than any other stat – his clash with Patrick Dangerfield reminded us of just how fearless the 19 year old is.

Around the Grounds

The Tigers opened the season with a win on Thursday night and young defender Kamdyn McIntosh ($158,000) impressed with a score of 101 on debut. Footy Prophet favourite Brandon Ellis ($556,000) was also in great form with a score of 121.

The Dees had a spectacular win and one of their most impressive was former Port Adelaide player Ben Newton ($221,000) who kicked two goals on his way to score of 96.

Luke Parker ($588,000) was in fine fantasy form for the Swans before leaving the ground after a clash with Lance Franklin – he recorded 111 points in just 63% time on ground. Also impressive for the Swans was draftee Isaac Heeney ($269,000) who scored 92 points and kicked the sealer on debut.

Saturday night saw us lose fantasy star Tom Rockliff to a punctured lung and he will need to be traded out for those who have him in AFL Fantasy Classic, but popular choices Daniel Rich ($298,000) and Dane Swan ($536,000) scored well.

The three biggest fantasy scores of the week came from the last three games of the round. Brad Ebert ($590,000) was the top scorer for the week with a big total of 168, but Jordan Lewis’ ($643,000) 156 against the Cats wasn’t far behind. Taylor Walker’s ($449,000) six goals and fifteen marks led him to a total of 146.
