North Melbourne will be without Robin Nahas for up to seven weeks with the small forward undergoing surgery on Monday on his shoulder.

The 26-year-old was injured in a tackle against Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday evening.

“Robbie went straight to hospital during the game to get scans and unfortunately, he did a bit of damage,” Director of Football Geoff Walsh said.

“After seeing the specialist today, he’ll have an operation to repair his AC joint tonight. The best case scenario would be to have him back within six to seven weeks at this stage which means he could be back in action late in the year.”

The results were a lot better for captain Andrew Swallow who twisted his knee late in the game.

“We’ll be treating Andrew very cautiously this week to see how he pulls up. There’s a bit of fluid around the joint but nothing significant and structurally he’s been cleared of any damage which is a good outcome,” Walsh commented.

“He’ll be given up until the last minute to prove his fitness for the game against the Lions.”

Meanwhile Walsh says the club is weighing up its options for Robbie Tarrant. The key forward has only managed one game this year and was a late withdrawal from the side that played the Demons after suffering a setback.

“Taz has seen a specialist and has been presented with a range of options regarding treatment for his leg injury. It’s a unique set of circumstances and we’ll take the next few days to decide on what the best path forward for him is.

“We have a number of things to consider and the decision will ultimately be Robbie’s to make.”
