Hawthorn midfielder Isaac Smith believes team-mate Brent Guerra is a good chance to return to face North Melbourne on Saturday.

The defender was a late withdrawal before the Hawks’ 35-point win over Collingwood.

“I think he’ll (Guerra) be all good,” Smith told reporters on Monday.

“He had a bit of fluid on the knee so we gave him a rest. He’s getting on now, so he needs those rests.”

Conscious of taking this week's opponent lightly, Smith says the Kangaroos are daunting opponents.

“Most people in the AFL see North as a top-eight side. Unfortunately for them they’ve lost a lot of close games.

“We only beat them by three points earlier in the year so they’re a very good side.

“They’re unlucky, and if they won a few of those close games they would have been top four. They’ve got good players across the field.”

Smith joked that he ‘hoped (Jack) Ziebell’s still out’, as the vice-captain looks to return from an ankle injury which forced him to miss the win against Essendon.
