North Melbourne’s General Manager of Football Cameron Joyce is “confident” of adding some new faces to the Roos list heading into 2019.

Speaking on the first day of the NAB AFL Trade Period, Joyce believes North will be successful in their pursuits of Aaron Hall and Jared Polec.

“We’re having ongoing discussions with both Gold Coast and Port Adelaide to see if we can get a deal done,” Joyce said.

“We’ll be right with both the boys, we’re confident.

“It’s really just ongoing discussions to get a mutual agreement.”

This comes a day after Eagle Andrew Gaff elected to remain at West Coast, and turn down offers from rival clubs, one of which was North Melbourne.

However, Joyce says the news won’t keep the Roos down.

“We’re not here to run second,” he said.

“What we’re doing is difficult, there’s not too many clubs that land All-Australians.

“We’re trying to do something difficult and we understand that, but at the same time we want to be the best we can be.

“We’re going to continue having a crack and we don’t shy away from that.

“We’ve had some different contingencies that we’ll obviously put into effect now.

“Whether that’s to do something right now or to look at 2019, we’ll work through during this period.”

One of those may be Giants defender Jeremy Finlayson, who has been linked to a move to Arden Street in recent weeks.

“We’ve spoken to another couple of other players that are potentially looking to move,” Joyce said.

“There’s been a bit of due diligence done on both sides to that, one around our potential to add in more players, but also for the players to make-up their mind on where they want to be as well.

“We’re just working through that at the moment, but we’ll keep all options open to see what else we can look to add during this period.”

The changes that the club are rumoured to make to its list won’t all be additions, with a pair of players both linked with moves away from North Melbourne.

One of those linked with a move away is ruckman Braydon Preuss.

“There’s been a little bit of interest in Braydon, which has been reported,” Joyce said.

“We’ve had some discussions with some potential suitors for Braydon and we’ll just keep working through that.

“He’s contracted for another couple of years, so we’re in no hurry to push him out the door by any means.”

The other Roo linked to a move is Ryan Clarke, with a trade to the Swans on the cards.

“Sydney have certainly got some interest there. We’re talking to Sydney at the moment,” Joyce added.
