How Delaney finished the season

In a frustrating year for Delaney, everything appeared to be coming good in the latter stages. Named to play against Melbourne in Round 18, he impressed, taking 12 marks to go with his 19 disposals.

However a toe injury led to his late withdrawal hours before the following game against Geelong and with that a premature end to his season.

Contracted until the end of 2015, the club holds high hopes for Delaney. His versatility, able to play tall and rebound, means he’s likely get more chances next season down back.

In the news

May 31Delaney gaining momentum

“The feel of the ball was a big one. You’re injured and you still do a lot of ball work but it’s the ball movement that you lose a little bit while you’re out.”

Josh Drummond - “He’s been ticking along pretty well the last few weeks since coming back from injury, and this week we released him a little bit higher given Bendigo didn’t have an overly tall forward line.”

July 25Persistence pays off

“I’m pretty excited for the game. It’s been a long year for me with the dodgy start. I had a couple of niggles and injuries that I had to work back from.”
