North Ballarat will look to post its first win of the season on Saturday against Sandringham, with Joel Tippett vital to the cause.

The key-defender is likely be matched up on dangerous St-Kilda listed player Tom Lee.

For Tippett it’s a chance to bounce back from an uncharacteristically quiet performance against the Bombers last week, when he was outpointed in a handful of one-on-one contests.

In the ruck, Eric Wallace’s development tour continues this weekend with another match-up against an AFL-listed ruckman. A week after impressing against Essendon-listed Frazer Thurlow, Wallace will face off against Saint Billy Longer.

Terry Milera has been in good form for Sandringham and there’s every chance Max Warren will take that matchup.

Warren has been a key player for the Roosters in defence and with his rebound from the back half, making the North rookie one of the most important players in the side.

Mitch Wilkins will return from an illness which forced him to be a late withdrawal from last week’s match.

Meanwhile Werribee will be featured in this week’s ABC TV game, facing Port Melbourne at North Port Oval on Saturday.

Coming off a strong performance against Bendigo, Mason Wood will be an important part of the Tigers’ lineup. The left-footer may spend some more time on the wing to continue his development.

Sam Wright returned to form last week and was rewarded with an emergency spot for the senior side. If he plays against Port and replicates his 31 disposal game for a second week, there’s every chance he’ll be considered for a senior recall.

After playing 70 per cent of the match last weekend, Kieran Harper’s game-time will most likely increase again for Werribee.

Harper had a ‘purple patch’ during the win according to Ben Dyer, which is a promising sign after missing extended time.
