A dominant performance against North Melbourne in Round 10 won’t make the Cats complacent when the teams meet again on Saturday night.

Cats’ coach Chris Scott says his side is preparing for ‘a really tough game’, made more difficult by the fact it will be played at Etihad Stadium.

"North Melbourne plays there a lot, they're used to the venue,” Scott said on Tuesday.

"The conditions are very consistent every single week, and their game-style is probably suited to a fast track where you can move the ball quickly."

While the Kangaroos’ inconsistency has been one of the talking points of the season, they’ve shown they are more than capable against the top teams.

"We're expecting them to play well. But, to be honest, we expect every opposition to play well.

"Probably the difference between (North) and some other teams is their best has been exceptional and their worst has been a little bit off that.

"So we have no choice but to prepare for them to play at their absolute best, and if they bring that, we're going to have to absolutely be on our game."

North will be desperate to add to its list of scalps, which includes Hawthorn, Sydney, Fremantle and Port Adelaide.

"They're really one the few teams that have been able to beat the best, even on their own turf," Scott added.

"So the fact that we're playing them at their preferred venue is in their favour a little bit.

"We won't be preparing for anything other than a really tough game."

The task will be made a little easier for the ‘travelling’ team, with ruckman Mark Blicavs (rested) and midfielder Allen Christensen (cold) likely to return to the Cats’ lineup.

"Christensen's a really important player for us. He hasn't played a lot this year. We'd like to get more footy into him.

"Mark Blicavs has been important for us all year. We have managed him carefully through the last couple of years.

"The plan is to have him up and going, because he contributes to our team when we're playing the best."

A game clear in third place on the AFL table, Geelong has one of the tougher runs of the teams in the eight.

Following the clash against North, the Cats will face Fremantle (home), Carlton (away), Hawthorn (away) and Brisbane (home) to round out the season.
