At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.

This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

In a wet, greasy game at Adelaide, North succumbed by 33 points. With the match based around the contest, it’s the midfielders in contention for Brownlow votes.

Here is the case for each of the players in the running for the votes, in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, then you can have your say.

Matt Crouch – Adelaide

No player had more disposals than Crouch’s 32, with the Crow also having eight clearances and seven tackles.

Ben Cunnington – NMFC

Cunnington had a team-high 26 disposals and eight clearances, using the conditions to his advantage.

Tom Lynch – Adelaide

Playing through half-forward, Lynch arguably relished the injury-enforced absence of Luke McDonald, rebounding from his quiet Round 1 outing to register 27 disposals and a couple of goal assists.

Rory Sloane – Adelaide

Sloane was vital in the last quarter as the Crows kicked away, finishing with 30 disposals (19 contested), 13 tackles and seven clearances.

Daniel Talia – Adelaide

Talia was the Crows’ rock down back, winning his matchup with Drew Petrie and a game-high 14 one percenters.

Jack Ziebell – NMFC

With nine tackles – equal to Corey Wagner as a North-high on the night – Ziebell’s pressure around the ball was key to North working its way back in the game. The vice-captain also finished with 24 disposals.
