Quotes

“It’s more about the tackling pressure and just doing the one-percenters for myself, to try and get myself up there in the ones (seniors).” – Fordham in May about his focus areas

“The main (focus) today was to take the game on and break the lines. I wanted to back myself really, back my legs and I was able to do that a bit.” – Fordham in July after Werribee snapped its losing streak with a victory over North Ballarat

What the coach said – Development Coach David Loader

“Will’s first five or six rounds were good, and we were seeing improvement each and every week.

“He had a flat spot, probably for five or six rounds in the middle of the year and then he really elevated himself late in the year to finish strong in his last six or seven games.

“His contested ball, his ability to fight through the tackle and break from contests was highlighted late in the year.

“It came with a bit of self-belief that he now has an AFL-sized body so he was able to use that.

“His kicking has improved and his numbers are good there. That and the contest were his areas for improvement at the start of the year and he’s addressed that.

“His game is ever-evolving as he continues to grow as a footballer.”
