Another promising performance from North’s emerging stars caught the headlines from Arden Street on Sunday.

Several Roos shared their thoughts post-match, as the team continues to build momentum heading into Round 1.

Ben Cunnington

On his final quarter mark

“I thought there was a good little run, I thought I’d jump early and the rest was history.

“I’ve never been that high so I didn’t know what to do.

“Last year I took one against St Kilda, but that was on the back of someone’s kneecaps. That one felt a little bit better.”

Scott Thompson

“It was good to get a bit of game time in and get back playing with the boys. I’ve been pushing for four or five weeks to start.

“With eight on the bench you’re only on for five or six (minutes), then you have a rest.

“There were a few cobwebs but it wasn’t too bad.”

Mitchell Hibberd

“I went back to half-back this week and had a simple focus.

“It was a good experience, and I’m just trying to put my best foot forward for the season ahead.

“We’ve played two of the powerhouse teams in the competition, but we just play the way we want to play.”

Shaun Higgins

“Last week we had a lot to work on coming out of the win, and I thought we were pretty good today. The pressure was up from the start, and that’s one thing we had a focus on.

“There’s still a lot to work on, but (it’s) pleasing with a young group we can build some momentum like this going into the season.”
