Oscar Allen is another name set to become familiar in the AFL landscape, but the Perth born potential chooses not to be swept up by media talks about being a top pick.

“I tend not to dwell on what’s said about me or look into it too much,” Allen said.

“I just like to confide within the close proximities of my football club, my close friends and family so I don’t really look too much into the hype.”

Allen possesses an impressive endurance base and an elite work ethic for a player of his height. Able to line up at both ends of the ground, he dominates with strong marks and his ability to move the ball efficiently and effectively.

Pushing himself to the limits at the Draft Combine, the young forward is excited for a potential career at the highest level.

“It’s obviously going to be one of the more nerve wracking months of my life,” he said of the month of the draft, November.

“I’ve got to get picked up first, but when you get to a club you really have to build really strong connections ... not only on the field, but also off the field and make sure my body’s in really tip-top shape.

“Any club that puts the faith in me and picks me, I would be absolutely stoked to go there and repay that faith.”

Drawing inspiration from Nick Riewodlt, Marcus Bontempelli, Jack Gunston and Josh Kennedy, the youngster continues to push himself to new limits, his game style having drawn comparisons to Jake Stringer.

Allen was awarded the Larke Medal for his efforts at the under-18 championships earlier this year, averaging 16 disposals and 6 marks, and booting 11 goals.
