North Melbourne completed its final training session ahead of Round 1 on Friday in Cairns.

The team got its first look at Cazalys Stadium, a day before the season-opener against the Suns.

It was a light session, but a sweaty one nonetheless, with the humid conditions, and a strong breeze taking some getting used to.

"It's obviously fairly windy today, so it gave us a good idea on how the ground plays," ruckman Todd Goldstein told the media after the session.

"We're very confident (going into the game). The JLT (Series) is more about getting match fitness, so you never read too much into that.

"We took a lot of learnings out of it, and it's always nice when you train a certain way for four months of pre-season to come out against a genuine opposition and see what works and what you've got to improve on.

"We've done a fair bit of work over the last two weeks on fixing up the few issues we found, and hopefully we see that come to fruition tomorrow night."

The Roos' players arrived in Cairns on Thursday night, giving themselves plenty of time to acclimatise to the conditions ahead of Saturday night's game.
