Depending on how you look at it, it’s either a good time or a tough time to be a member of the North Melbourne match committee, with the AFL and VFL sides in great form.

In the AFL, North ran out 54-point winners, but had two players under injury clouds in Jed Anderson and Jarrad Waite.

Plenty of players put their hands up for selection in the VFL’s 57-point win over Sandringham, making this week’s selection intriguing.

North Media has considered those in the mix for Saturday’s massive clash with Geelong.

Defenders

Ben McKay continues to put in dominant displays in the VFL, and his 17 disposal, 11 mark effort would have him in the frame. However finding a spot ahead of Robbie Tarrant, Scott Thompson and Majak Daw is proving difficult.

Midfielders

Ryan Clarke returned to a familiar midfield role and gave the perfect response to his demotion, picking up a game-high 36 disposals and a goal in the VFL. Although he played in the middle, his ability to play back puts him in good stead.

Braydon Preuss continues to dominate at VFL-level, and the big ruckman had one of his finest performances yet with a whopping 75 hit-outs, and 17 disposals.

Mitch Hibberd was in fine touch on Saturday with 35 disposals and 8 marks.

Will Walker edges closer to an AFL debut. The pacey midfielder showed how damaging he can be, kicking 4 goals and 18 touches.

Forwards

Nathan Hrovat put in another strong showing on Saturday with 21 disposals. He also applied great pressure without the ball.

Nick Larkey continues to find the big sticks, and is currently sitting equal second on the VFL goal-kicking table. It is surely only a matter of time before he is rewarded with another opportunity in the AFL.

Cameron Zurhaar has been in excellent touch, and the powerful young-forward kicked another 2 goals.

Jarrad Waite was a late exclusion on Sunday with a calf complaint, but if fit he is a near certainty for the trip to Geelong.
