To say Jared Polec has had a fair bit on his plate recently, would be an understatement.

After a career-best season with Port Adelaide and a top five finish in the club’s best and fairest count, the elite running wingman was traded to North Melbourne on Wednesday morning, will celebrate his 26th birthday on Friday, and marries his fiancé, Alison, on Sunday.

“There’s been a lot going on for sure,” Polec told North Media from Adelaide.

“It’s all been a bit over the top with all the media speculation about my future but it’s great now that it’s all done and sorted.

“Everything has been flowing pretty nicely in the background.”

While everything has been confirmed trade-wise and the wedding plans done, Polec admits he’ll be under to pressure to relocate before the pre-season starts on November 12.

“We have our honeymoon coming up in the United States and also Japan and get back on the 8th,” he said.

“I’m hoping we can be settled in to a new place in Melbourne by the 15th.”

Making the transition to a new club is always easier if you know someone, and for Polec, he’ll be joining North alongside his Port teammate Jasper Pittard. The pair coming to the Kangaroos in a packaged deal for a first round pick.

Polec believes Pittard will be a real asset for the Roos, and has backed him in to return to his All-Australian squad form from 2016.

“Jasper will bounce back, no doubt about it,” he said.

A change of scenery familiar to Polec who began his career at Brisbane.

“He lost a few years due to being interrupted by injuries, but I believe he can get back to his best. A fresh start can be the perfect outcome to rediscover past form and he’ll get back there.”
