Despite North Melbourne recording arguably its best win of the season over Sydney on Saturday, the same 22 is unlikely take to the field in Round 8.

Ed Vickers-Willis was an unfortunate casualty in the upset win, and with the in-form Jarrad Waite having been managed, changes look certain.

North’s VFL side suffered a 66-point loss to Essendon earlier on Saturday, but there were still some encouraging performances from AFL-listed players.

North Media looks at those in the mix for selection ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Tigers.

Defenders

Ben McKay put in another impressive shift in the VFL, with the key-defender having 15 disposals and taking 7 marks, likewise Sam Durdin who was praised by the coaches for his efforts.

Tom Murphy impressed in his role on Essendon’s Orazio Fantasia, and has been on the fringes of the AFL squad during the opening rounds. The defender had 15 disposals and 7 rebound 50s on Saturday.

Majak Daw missed the trip to Sydney with an injured foot, but has been an important member of North’s stingy backline so far, and could be fit to face Richmond.

Midfielders

Luke Davies-Uniacke looked to gain some confidence in the VFL, and he had 18 disposals and 5 clearances against the Bombers.

Paul Ahern edges closer to an AFL debut, and he was named as the travelling emergency for the trip to Sydney.

Braydon Preuss keeps dominating at VFL level, having another 47 hit-outs on Saturday.

Forwards

Nathan Hrovat again looked sharp in his second game back from a thumb injury, and he kicked another 2 goals in the VFL.

Jarrad Waite was managed for the trip to Sydney, and his replacement Mason Wood stepped up in his absence, kicking 4 goals.

However, Waite has been integral to the Roos early-season form, so it will be fascinating to see what decision the match committee come to regarding the forward line.
