The Match Review Panel has handed out a fine to youngster Jy Simpkin, following an incident in North’s final JLT Community Series clash.

Simpkin can accept at $1,000 fine with an early guilty plea for striking Adam Tomlinson.

There were several other incidents during the match which were examined by the MRP, including Shaun Higgins, who was cleared of any wrongdoing for his clash with Steve Johnson.

GWS forward Jeremy Cameron was fined for a hit on Scott Thompson, while his teammate Toby Greene also copped a fine for a high hit on Sam Wright.

Jy Simpkin, North Melbourne, has been charged with striking Adam Tomlinson, GWS Giants, during the third quarter of the Week Four JLT Community Series match between North Melbourne and the GWS Giants, played at Manuka on Friday March 10, 2017.

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the GWS Giants’ Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the body. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.

Other incidents assessed:

Contact between North Melbourne’s Shaun Higgins and the GWS Giants’ Steve Johnson from the first quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Higgins was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball when contact was made. No further action was taken.
