North Melbourne remains ‘hopeful’ that three of its key players will be available for a crucial clash against Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

Director of Football Geoff Walsh told NMFC.com.au that Daniel Wells’ scans were encouraging.

"Daniel’s Achilles is clear and he will be managed throughout the week. We remain hopeful that he will be available to play this weekend."

Scott Thompson hurt his ankle in the first quarter but managed to play out the game and should recover in time according to Walsh.

"Scott sprained his ankle and we remain hopeful that he will be available."

Meanwhile the club will wait for the advice of a specialist before making an assessment on Nick Dal Santo.

"Scans have confirmed a hamstring injury for Nick and we will seek a specialist’s opinion and track his progress this week before determining a timeframe for his recovery."
