North forward Jed Anderson’s continues to ramp up his recovery, with the 22-year-old up and running.

The new recruit suffered a tear to his proximal hamstring tendon in North’s Round 1 win over Adelaide, but is making strong progress.

“(I’m) pain free, but there is a little bit of pain on the scar tissue ... but that’s normal,” Anderson told NMFC.com.au.

“I’m gradually getting more stronger each week, building up now with the running exercise and strength work in the gym, so it’s tracking along pretty well.

“I’m feeling OK at the moment, and ready to get back out there.”

The former Hawk said he was “pretty unlucky” to suffer the injury in the second quarter of his debut for his new club.

“(I was) just going to pick up the ball, and my leg got caught outside my body and jarred my hammy tendon up and unfortunately got a bit of a nick to my hammy tendon.”

When the injury struck, Anderson said he was still able to run, but ultimately the decision was made for him to not return, with the club’s medical team refusing to take any chances.

“I came to the bench and felt OK, running over to the bench and running around for the next 30 seconds,” he said.

“Once I got to the bench I said I felt a cramp like sensation in the middle of my hammy and got assessed, went down in the rooms and it felt ok, but the medical staff said they didn’t want to risk any further damage.”

Anderson, who was placed on the long term injury list in March, is expected to return in the next five to seven weeks.
