North Melbourne fans will have access to free drinking water at this Friday night’s blockbuster at Etihad Stadium.

The Roos have partnered with VicHealth to promote the chilled drinking fountains around the Docklands venue for all games this season.

Fans are also being encouraged to bring their own re-usable bottles to fill up with drinking water throughout the year.

Star midfielder and campaign ambassador Daniel Wells said he expected the free water to prove popular at all North Melbourne fixtures this year.

“As professional athletes, we know how important staying hydrated is, but the same certainly goes for the fans,” Wells said.

“We all spend lots of money on bottled drinking water, particularly when we are away from home, so for it to be free and chilled at the stadium makes a lot of sense and is definitely very convenient.”

For the times when fans aren’t at Etihad Stadium, Yarra Valley Water have made finding free drinking water even easier with their “Choose Tap” app, helping people locate the water fountain nearest to them.

North will also hand out free, co-branded re-usable drinking bottles in its Rounds 17 and 23 fixtures at Etihad Stadium, thanks to the support of VicHealth.
