Ryan Bastinac is set to play his first VFL game in more than four years, should he run out for North Ballarat on Saturday.

The midfielder’s only prior experience at the level came in 2011 when he worked his way back from a knee injury in his second year at Arden Street. Since then he has been just about a permanent fixture in the AFL side, playing 92 of the last 93 matches.

When he was omitted after this season’s loss to Adelaide, he was the game day emergency the following week. It remains to be seen whether Bastinac he will head to Sydney as the Roos’ travelling emergency.

The number three’s role in the midfield along teammate Brad McKenzie could be crucial for a Roosters’ side looking to snap a four-match losing streak.

Aaron Mullett has been consistently finding the ball at VFL level, and this Saturday is his last chance to push for an AFL recall before next weekend’s bye.

Meanwhile at Werribee, the Tigers will be slightly short-handed due to the injury of Daniel Currie.

The ruckman’s foot issue means Majak Daw will have to shoulder more of the workload, although he’s also been named as an emergency for North’s clash against the Giants, alongside Scott McMahon.

Scott McMahon returns to Werribee to bolster a defence which found itself under siege in the second half against Collingwood, conceding 13 goals.

American big man Eric Wallace could be in line for his first senior VFL game of 2015 after spending the first half of the season in the Development League.

Meanwhile, Luke McDonald will look to continue his good form at the level in a bid to win back his spot in the North side.
