With a Geelong team in quality form on the horizon for North this week, the make-up of the team is one of hot debate.

Jarrad Waite’s injury means there is a vacant spot in the forward line, while a host of Roos impressed in the VFL over the weekend.

Forwards

Waite is tipped to be sidelined for four to six weeks, giving a chance for the likes of Majak Daw and Ben McKay to come into the side.

Daw played both forward and ruck for Werribee last weekend, while McKay spent all his time forward. Nick Larkey was another to impress, kicking three goals.

Another option is to bring in a smaller forward; Corey Wagner was one of Werribee’s best with 26 disposals, while Taylor Garner has now played two full games since his comeback from injury.

With a free spot on the senior list due to Paul Ahern’s long-term injury, the option of a rookie promotion is available. Cam Zurhaar’s form has been turning heads at Arden St, and he was again impressive on the weekend.

Defenders

Ed Vickers-Willis and Aaron Mullett both put their hands up for a place against the Cats with their VFL performances.

Mullett, playing his customary role off half-back, was able to provide plenty of run and carry with his 29 disposals.

Meanwhile Vickers-Willis, playing on a variety of opponents, was strong defensively and is closing in on an AFL debut.

Midfielders

Since his comeback from injury, Jed Anderson has been playing as an inside midfielder and excelling, collecting another 24 disposals on the weekend for Werribee.

While Wagner could also come in as a forward, his work in the midfield gives another string to his bow if the coaching staff opt to go in a different direction.
