2015 number 1 draft pick Jacob Weitering is in for the challenge of his short career on Saturday.

One of Drew Petrie, Jarrad Waite or Ben Brown is likely the opponent for the 18-year-old at Etihad Stadium.

Carlton coach Brendan Bolton rubbished any suggestions the youngster had been brought back too soon from a shoulder injury.

"He's back because he's ready," Bolton said.

"He's been an absolute professional. His rehab has gone really well. He's ready to perform."

The task for ruckman Daniel Gorringe also monumental with Todd Goldstein in good form.

“He’s an elite runner, he’s got a great endurance base and good speed,” Bolton explained.

“Footy’s about opportunity, and he’s got a good chance against a quality ruckman.

“He’s got a terrific engine. We’ve gone with a guy who can really run this week.”

Carlton will be looking to extend its winning streak to five against North Melbourne, but will be without key players such as Levi Casboult and Matthew Kreuzer.
