Last time the Lord Mayor of Melbourne Robert Doyle visited Aegis Park it was to formally open its community classroom, The Huddle.

On Wednesday, nearly two years on, Doyle was back to take another tour and see how things have progressed at the state-of-the-art facility.

Visibly impressed by The Huddle and the way North Melbourne has excelled with its community programs, Doyle told kangaroos.com.au he was delighted to return.

“North Melbourne is leading the way in its community engagement, within the City of Melbourne.

“Whenever we contribute to a project, we look for value to the City, and that value cannot be doubted in this case.”

The Lord Mayor spent time with students from Kensington’s Western English Language School, attended by those who’ve recently arrived in Australia. The class consisted of individuals from eight different countries, some of whom had only landed in the country within the last week. In The Huddle, the children shared stories of the places and items that are special to them.
