North Melbourne Chairman James Brayshaw will be able to dedicate more time to his beloved Kangaroos after coming to an arrangement with his employer TripleM recently.

Midway through last season Brayshaw announced his desire not to commentate North matches because he felt it put his colleagues in an uncomfortable position.

“If we’re getting smacked, which hopefully will never happen again, it’s really tough for Garry (Lyon), Danny (Frawley) and Jason (Dunstall) to commentate without feeling for me a bit. So I’ve removed myself from that and that’ll enable them to go about their business at 1000 miles an hour…it’s the perfect way to go,” Brayshaw told kangaroos.com.au.

“I wasn’t comfortable calling our games, not because I’m biased or anything but I just didn’t think it was a good fit for a president to be calling games involving his own club.”

However the compromise doesn’t mean the lifelong North supporter will be entirely removed from the commentary box.

“I’ll still be doing the previews for our games. But when it’s time for the game to start, I’ll be out and Rex (Hunt) will come in or Hamish (McLachlan).”

Brayshaw says he’ll now be freed up and able to attend the Kangaroos’ Chairman’s Club functions in some capacity.

“As soon as I’m done on air I’ll be able to get straight over to the function and enjoy the game with the rest of our loyal supporters and sponsors.”

Before the season gets underway Brayshaw will travel to Vancouver to cover the Winter Olympics for Channel Nine and then it’s full steam ahead for the 2010 AFL season.

“Along with the Footy Show I’ll also be doing a new radio show on TripleM on weekdays from four until six in the evening with Billy Brownless which will be great. It’s a drive-time show that I’m really looking forward to doing because I’ve always wanted to work with Billy on radio.”
