Named skipper of the inaugural Kangaroos side, Kearney forged her reputation on being one of the hardest and most ferocious players going around.

As the competition improved year-on-year, so did she, winning eight consecutive All-Australian selections – a feat unmatched by any other AFLW player.

The defender began 2024 in top form – she was among the best afield in Weeks 1 and 2 – but she missed the second half of the season due to the hamstring injury she picked up in Week 5.

That was never going to stop her returning, and in December 2024 she secured her place in North Melbourne history by captaining the club to its first AFLW premiership.
