The naming of the All-Australian teams is always followed with controversy and it seems this year, North Melbourne’s Lindsay Thomas is right in the middle of it.

The small-forward was clearly the most dominant player for the position and while no-one would argue with Jarryd Roughead and Chad Wingard being named in the forward pockets, Thomas certainly should have been right there next to them.

With 53 goals from 20 games, he finished seventh in the Coleman Medal, only behind the big key-forwards in the competition.

Thomas had seven hauls of four goals or more and polled six times in the AFL Coaches Award.

Stephen Milne made the All-Australian team in 2012 and 2013 with just 3 more goals.

It’s a fine line, there’s no doubting that, but Thomas’ non-selection has created plenty of discussion and a whole lot of angst among North supporters.
