North Melbourne star Shaun Higgins has been recognised for his outstanding year with selection in the All Australian team.

Higgins has excelled in his midfield role, becoming one of the most damaging players in the competition, and the stats don’t lie.

North’s number four has ranked elite for disposals (27.4 per game), kicks (14.1), clearances (5.1) and has amassed the second-most inside 50s in the competition.

North Media has taken a look back at Higgins’ five best games for the season.

Round 4 v Carlton

Higgins was sensational in the blowout win over the Blues.

35 disposals, 11 clearances and a goal had him a lock for best on ground honours.

Round 7 v Swans

Higgins was superb in the narrow win over the Swans at the SCG, with his class critical to the Roos getting over the line.

The performance which consisted of 31 disposals and a goal was all the more impressive as it was Higgins’ comeback game from a nasty concussion.

Round 11 v Brisbane

Higgins had been gaining attention with his early season form, but the performance against the Lions really got tongues wagging.

He collected a career-high 38 disposals, and kicked a goal, with Paul Roos subsequently calling him “one of the top-10 players in the competition”.

Round 12 v Geelong

On what was a tough day at the Cattery for North, Higgins stood up.

He was excellent against the Cats’ star-studded midfield, having 30 disposals, 10 inside 50s and kicking 2 goals.

Round 14 v Western Bulldogs

In a tough and testy clash against his old side, Higgins didn’t let the extra attention he received get to him.

He dominated in the midfield with 32 disposals, with his smooth work in the dying stages of the game key to Jack Ziebell’s winner.
