Jed Anderson is set to make his long-awaited AFL return on Saturday night against Adelaide, having overcome a hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old played in the VFL over the weekend, getting through three quarters unscathed to push his case for a call-up.

“We’re very happy to have Jed Anderson back this week, and barring mishap at training he’ll come back in,” North coach Brad Scott said on Wednesday.

“There’ll be a few other guys in our squad that we may make some further change as well.

“That’s one of the positives if things aren’t working perfectly for us at the moment - we certainly do have options.”

Scott said Mason Wood and Sam Wright could also be in the mix to take on the Crows, as the Roos work to find the right balance.

"It's probably taken a little bit longer for us to jell as a team than I anticipated," he said.

"Bringing in seven or so players … I thought that we could bring them together a little bit quicker than we have, so I've still got, in conjunction with our coaches, some work to do on that

"The reality is 0-3 is not ideal – far from – so we've handicapped ourselves so far this season.

"But we feel like when we focus on the facts of our game and the areas that we know we can do better, we think we're more capable than our results are showing.

"But even in-game, we put ourselves in two winning positions and we've been really disappointed we've let both Brisbane and Hawthorn off the hook."
