After his proclamation he 'won't be tweeting anything until I get to 1,000 followers,' the Twitter universe got behind the cause, forcing him to honour his word on Monday afternoon.
His first tweet didn't disappoint, "Still gutted about losing, my form's been crap as well and I don't need any other reptiles telling me via twitter! #notatwittervirginnow" and he followed that up with, "Feel really sorry for Gary Rohan, but I thought Lindsay was first to the footy...hmmm #confused"
His Twitter debut was well received, with a comment from Brent Harvey applauding the effort;

Retweeted by such players as Hamish McIntosh, more people continue to follow @drewpetrie20 with his popularity reaching more than 1,500 followers.
Senior North tweeters such as Andrew Swallow and Harvey will be nervously looking over their shoulders as Petrie's surge up the followers leaderboard continues.
