Each week, the best VFL player will be crowned MVP – Presented by the Limerick Castle; a country-style pub located in the heart of North Melbourne.

Round 11: Ben McKay.

Ben McKay was a constant aerial threat on Sunday afternoon, providing a reliable set of hands for the Roos in hostile conditions at Skybus Stadium.

“Ben played super down back today,” VFL senior coach David Loader told North Media.

“He came forward, he was aggressive and he tried to set the boys in front of him up.

“Unfortunately for Ben today, he didn't have a lot of helpers.

“I think he took between six to eight contested marks inside 50.”

The key-defender added a layer of polish to North’s defensive six, repelling many Frankston attacks.

Despite the disappointing 50-point loss to Frankston, McKay was a shining light, finishing his day with 16 disposals and eight marks.

“There’s no doubt about it, when he plays to his elite qualities, he goes really well,” Loader added.

“I was really pleased with him today, and how he went about his footy.”

McKay played the opening three games of the AFL season, and will be pushing his case for another call-up in the coming weeks.
