The Kangaroos’ second selection in the 2019 AFLW Draft, Wright has forged a reputation at Arden Street as a consistently reliable defender capable of playing multiple roles.

Among the team’s most understated and underrated players, Wright is a powerful and athletic one-on-one defender who is regularly tasked with defending the opposition’s most dangerous mid-sized forward.

A strong intercept marker, she seems to float back and mark goal-bound opposition shots on a near-weekly basis, using her intelligence to move off her forward to be able to impact the play as much as possible.

In the club’s maiden premiership year in 2024, she starred at the heart of the AFLW’s stingiest defence – the Kangaroos conceding just 208 points across 11 home and away games matches – 77 fewer than the next-best (Adelaide, 285).
