North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos forward Daria Bannister will depart the club after signing with expansion club Essendon.

Bannister departs after four seasons with the Kangaroos. The 23-year-old has played 25 AFLW games across her career to date, 24 of those in the royal blue and white.

"Given the current nature of player movement in the AFLW, we understand Daria’s decision to pursue a new opportunity at Essendon," AFLW Football Performance & Talent Manager Rhys Harwood said.

"Daria has made a significant contribution to our AFLW side across our four seasons in the competition.

"After showing great resilience to work her way back from injury, her talent quickly saw her become a favourite amongst our members and supporters.

"Her ferocity and goal-nous will certainly be missed. Daria has done a fantastic job of representing North Melbourne, and her state of Tasmania on the AFLW stage.

"We wish Daria all the best in her for the future both on and off the field."
