Boyhood North Melbourne fan Tristan Xerri will continue his lifelong association with the club after signing a three-year contract extension.

Xerri, who is in his fifth year at Arden Street, has established himself as the team's No.1 ruck in 2022 and has already played more senior games than any other season in his career.

After signing the new deal, Xerri says there is no other club he’d rather play for.

“I grew up a North supporter and I’ve spent five years here already. It’s a great place, a great club and a great culture,” Xerri told North Media.

“The group here at North is a really young group and in another three years who knows where we’ll be.

“I’m really excited and thankful for the opportunity.”

After second-placed finish in North’s VFL best and fairest in 2021, Xerri has taken his game to the next level this season. The improvement of his tap-work and around the ground play has been one of the individual highlights of the Kangaroos’ campaign.

While he admits the team’s performances haven’t been as strong as he’d have liked in recent weeks, Xerri is bullish on the team’s prospects for the second half of 2022.

“It hasn’t been the start of the season we would have liked, as a collective just to play our brand, we’ve probably gone away from that a bit in the past couple of months,” he said.

“So if we can start playing the footy we know we can (that) we’ve shown in patches that would be huge.

“Individually [I want to] nail my role each week to help the team and learn from some of the best rucks in the game.”
