Now with more young talent in the competition than ever, earning an AFLW Rising Star nomination has become a difficult feat to achieve.

A North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos player is yet to receive a Season 7 nomination, but with three rounds remaining in the home and away season, don’t be surprised if one (or more) of the club's emerging guns is recognised over the coming weeks.

Here are those with a chance of being nominated in the next three rounds.

Erika O'Shea

Rookie signing O'Shea is probably the unluckiest Kangaroo to have not received a nomination so far this season.

The daring Irish defender has impressed in her first campaign in the royal blue and white with her speed out of the backline and evasiveness with ball in hand.

O'Shea is yet to miss a game since debuting, and she continues to add skills to her repertoire making her a tough match-up for any forward.

Games: 7
Goals: 0
Stats: 7.1 disposals, 3.3 tackles, 118 metres gained, 5.1 intercepts per game

01:05

Taylah Gatt

Gatt was taken with North Melbourne's first pick (No.28) in the 2022 Draft, and like O'Shea, has played every game so far in her first season at the club.

The winger's burst of speed often leads to her creating separation between herself and her direct opponent, so if she can continue to develop her disposal usage then she will quickly become a difficult player to shut down.

Gatt's best performance of the year came back in Round 3 against the formidable Crows where she had a career-high 12 disposals and a goal assist.

Games: 7
Goals: 0
Stats: 7.4 disposals, 105 metres gained, 2.1 tackles, 1.4 score involvements per game

02:17

Tess Craven

Craven is becoming one of the side's most consistent performers.

Her growing ability to find the ball and remain composed when using it has seen her nail down a spot in the team's starting line-up as a versatile midfielder.

Craven particularly stood out in back-to-back games at Punt Road Oval over Rounds 5 and 6 where she had 11 disposals, four tackles and four marks on both occasions, so expect her to continue improving as the year draws to a close.

Games: 7
Goals: 1
Stats: 8.4 disposals, 2.3 marks, 2.1 tackles, 156.3 metres gained per game

Alice O'Loughlin

After returning from a bone stress issue in Round 3, O'Loughlin has provided North with a spark down forward throughout Season 7.

Her athleticism in the tight confines of forward-line contests gives her an edge when an opportunity to score arises, while her ability to win the contested ball between the arcs is only improving.

With a game against a relatively inexperienced Port Adelaide backline coming up, O'Loughlin could have the chance to hit the scoreboard multiple times and potentially earn a Rising Star nomination.

Games: 5
Goals: 2
Stats: 8.4 disposals, 3.4 tackles, 2.2 marks, 1.6 score involvements per game

00:42

Zoe Savarirayan

Another one of the club's rookie signings, Savarirayan made her debut in Round 6 and has seemingly worked her way into being one of Darren Crocker's preferred weapons in the forward line setup while Ellie Gavalas recovers from a hamstring injury.

At just 17 years of age, Savarirayan has already shown she has the capability to break games open with her pace, and she's only going to get better with more games under her belt.

Games: 2
Goals: 0
Stats: 4 disposals, 3.5 tackles, 2 tackles inside 50, 2.5 score involvements per game

01:24

Sophia McCarthy

Taken with pick No.39 of the 2022 Draft, McCarthy has notched four games for the Kangaroos in her first AFLW campaign.

The key forward slotted a goal on debut in Round 1 and has served as a solid marking target when on the park.

01:45

Charli Granville

Another 2022 draftee, Granville was a livewire in her first game against the Suns but like McCarthy, hasn't quite secured a week-to-week spot in the senior side.

However, Granville's nous as a small forward is sure to develop with the more time she spends at Arden Street.

01:35

Ella Maurer

Maurer made her dramatic debut in her home state of Tasmania in front family and friends as a late inclusion to the Round 4 team.

The current talent North Melbourne possesses has made it tough for Maurer to break into the team this season, but opportunities are undoubtedly on the horizon for the 20-year-old.

01:03

Draftees Grace Matser and Cassidy Mailer, and midfielder Perri King, are also eligible but are yet to feature for North Melbourne this season.

To be eligible, players must be under the age of 21 on December 31, 2022 and the player must not have been previously nominated as a weekly AFLW Rising Star.
