Arocca and Bombers’ CEO Ian Robson have both taken on the challenge of participating in the annual Vinnie’s CEO Sleepout, with the pair set to experience a night in the cold in a bid to raise awareness of the real facts of homelessness.
With $5,660 raised, nearly $5,000 behind Robson, Arocca is calling on Kangaroos’ supporters to dig deep in aid of an important cause.
“Essendon beat us in round one, and we can’t let them do it again,” Arocca joked.
“… But most importantly, anything we can do to raise awareness and funds for the provision of homeless services is just amazing.”
Arocca is one of nearly 800 senior business and community leaders taking part in the event in capital cities across Australia on June 21.
“I can’t emphasise how much the sleep-out has opened to my eyes to the challenges so many across the country are facing, and that’s a feeling all those involved would share,” Arocca added.
“To know that over 100,000 Australians, and even more significantly that a quarter of those are under the age of 18 shows just how relevant this issue is. Without continued funding and the good work of the St Vincent De Paul Society, it’s an issue that won’t go away.”
