North Melbourne begins its two-game home stretch in Western Australia when it hosts West Coast at Hands Oval in Bunbury on Sunday.

The Roos should be refreshed after their Round 12 bye, while the Eagles will be eager to build on their performance against Geelong, which saw them battle hard for the first three quarters before falling away.

Round 13, North Melbourne v West Coast

The opposition

There were plenty of positive signs for the Eagles last Sunday, despite ultimately falling to a talented Cats outfit by 43 points at Optus Stadium.

They remain 18th however, with just one win to their name after 12 rounds - that being a 28-point win over St Kilda three weeks ago.

Harley Reid has lifted his output over recent clashes, and kicked one goal from his 19 disposals against the Cats, while captain Oscar Allen has found form, having booted four goals in the loss.

Running hot

Since returning to the senior side in 2025, young defender Riley Hardeman has quickly become a reliable member of Alastair Clarkson's backline.

The No.17 racked up 10 marks, five intercepts and a career-high 28 disposals against Collingwood in Round 11, firming in his spot as a rebounding back.

He's all set to play his first game for premiership points in his home state on Sunday when the Roos touch down in WA.

What the coach has said

North Melbourne senior coach Alastair Clarkson post-game v Collingwood: "We need to sustain the intensity and effort for longer and that's what comes with winning and belief. We have got to stick to the fundamentals of how we want to play and we did that well in the first half.

"You've got to take your chances against the good sides and we didn't take them as well as we could have ... we just know that when we become a good side and a competitive unit is the day when we can play four quarters of that type of fundamental footy, rather than two and a bit or three."
