North Melbourne star Colby McKercher has undergone minor surgery after suffering a fracture to his finger on his left hand.
The 20-year-old underwent the procedure on Tuesday.
The setback means McKercher will miss the Roos' match sim against Melbourne at Casey Fields on Friday.
However, he is expected to be fit to play in the club's Round 1 clash against Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium.
Meanwhile, young ruck Taylor Goad suffered a high-grade lateral ankle sprain at training on Wednesday.
The club will provide further information regarding timelines as he recovers, but he is expected to be out of training for the medium term.
