North Melbourne defender Charlie Comben has been cleared by the AFL's match review officer following an incident involving Melbourne's Brody Mihocek on Friday.

Comben tackled Mihocek during the first quarter of the practice match at Casey Fields.

In assessing the incident, the match review officer ruled Comben did not use excessive force while tackling Mihocek, or place the Demon forward in a vulnerable position.

The available evidence suggested the incident was not related to the concussion Mihocek sustained during the match, the match review officer said.
