Braydon Preuss will be out to prove he's more than just a fierce tackler and a brute when he contests in the ruck against the Swans.

The 206cm rugby convert caused a stir in North's intra-club match after a spear tackle on Andrew Swallow.

A former rookie that was promoted to the senior list with a new two-year contract told The Herald Sun that he apologised to the Roos' former captain and guaranteed there was no hard feelings.

“We cuddled, hugged and I gave him a little kiss on the cheek, so it was all good,” Preuss said.

“I didn’t know it would escalate to what it was and I was so sorry afterwards.

“I wasn’t thinking at the time and I accidentally just got him around the legs and went back to my rugby league days."

While the club wants Pruess to maintain his aggressive approach, the man himself acknowledges that he needs to refine his tackling technique.

“It definitely wasn’t intentional," he said.

“I have to be an aggressive player, because I’m not known for my ball-winning ability, so I’ve got to bring something to the team.

“The more I do it (tackle) the more I can be involved in the game.

“I want to repay the club for giving me another opportunity,” he said.

“I have only played NAB Cup before, not AFL, so we’ll see how it goes but I’m pretty confident I can handle it (at the top level).

“Especially if ‘Goldy’ and I can work tandem in the ruck.”
