Nathan Hrovat is primed for a return to football this weekend after a minor setback with an injured thumb.

“It's my First game back, I'm just excited to get back out there,” Hrovat told North Media.

“It’s [the thumb] held up pretty good. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be playing. It feels fine. Everything has gone as per schedule.”

The versatile forward suffered a small fracture to his thumb in a training drill, resulting in a holt to his AFL campaign.

Due to the nature of the injury, Hrovat was still able to complete training sessions on the track.

“I wasn’t too restricted in terms of stuff I could do. It’s been a pretty smooth transition,” he added.

“I’ve been able to train and do everything, so it was just about when the thumb could hold up.”

The 23-year-old will feature in North Melbourne’s VFL side on Sunday afternoon against the Coburg Lions at Piranha Park.

“We’ve got a lot of good young players coming through. I think it’s been a big week in terms of losing last week to Frankston. Hopefully we can get a win against Coburg,” he said.

Hrovat has been named in the forward pocket, alongside an in-form Nick Larkey and Oscar Junker.

Fans are invited to attend Sunday’s VFL match against Coburg at Piranha Park, with the first bounce at 1.00pm. The game will be live-streamed via the club website and App.
