As North Melbourne prepares for its final pre-season tune up, there’s another chance to tinker with the lineup and find the perfect mix for Round 1.

Despite Aaron Hall sending a scare through the camp last Saturday, the former Sun could still feature this weekend.

North Media looks at those in the mix for selection ahead of Saturday’s match with Port Adelaide.

Defenders

Veteran defender Scott Thompson is out for the season-opener due to suspension, but the Roos’ coaches could be keen to get him some valuable game-time.

Sam Wright missed the clash against St Kilda, but is a chance to be available for the trip to Adelaide.

Given the new-look back six, Wright’s experience could be exactly what North needs to steady the ship.

Midfielders

Like Scott Thompson, Ben Cunnington wasn’t a part of last week’s squad, simply to put the side’s midfield depth to the test.

With this being the last hit-out before Round 1, expect the hard-nosed midfielder to feature in Alberton, as he prepares for what is shaping to be another impressive season.

Jed Anderson, didn’t feature against the Saints with a minor hamstring, but could be an addition to the squad.

Second-year player Kyron Hayden was an emergency last weekend and is also in the mix.

Forwards

Nathan Hrovat was left out of last week’s squad and played in the VFL against Sandringham, and is a chance to be recalled.

Draftee Curtis Taylor starred in that same match, kicking three goals, and his performance adds to an already impressive pre-season.

Mature-age recruit Tom Wilkinson is another small forward who has put his hand up after making his mark over Summer.

Declan Watson, who made the switch from defender to forward over the break, has been a surprise performer during match simulations and intra-clubs, and could be given the chance to continue that form against Port.
