Ben Brown says North’s forward-line is beginning to click and believes the Roos will do some real damage at the back-end of the season.

The spearhead was unstoppable against Essendon, booting a season-high six goals

“The forward group is working a whole lot better than it has been,” Brown told North Media.

“In previous weeks, guys like Nick Larkey and Cam Zurhaar have stepped up and got the goals, but today was the day I got on the end of a few.

“I felt pretty good, right up until the final siren. It was one of those days where it just felt it was working for you.”

The Roos were undone by a late Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti goal, which handed the Bombers a five-point win.

“Credit to him (McDonald-Tipungwuti), it was a pretty amazing goal,” Brown said.

“But it’s obviously pretty disappointing, and you’re left wondering what you could have done.

“It would have been nice to get over the line but we just have to pick ourselves up for Brisbane.”

North had a mountain of work to do to win the game, heading into the final term down by three goals.

Showing great fight, the Roos responded and came within seconds of a courageous victory.

“It was good that we were able to keep it in the forward half the majority of that quarter, but we didn’t capitalise as much as we would have liked,” Brown said.

“There’s a lot to like about the way we’re going about our footy, but we just have to be more consistent.”
