North Melbourne premiership duo Kim Rennie and Libby Birch have each signed contract extensions ahead of the 2026 AFLW season.

Rennie has locked in her future at Arden Street until the end of 2027, while Birch, a four-time premiership player, has committed to the club until the end of 2028.

Since making her club debut in Season 6 (2022), Rennie has been indispensable to the team's midfield group, where the ruck has consistently elevated her game.

She played every single match during the 2024 breakthrough season, and in 2025, cemented her status as an elite League ruck, recording the highest percentage of hitouts to advantage of any primary ruck in the competition.

Birch has been equally vital as a pillar in the Kangaroos' defensive unit since arriving at the club ahead of the 2024 season, playing a crucial role in the club's 2024 and 2025 back-to-back flags. The 28-year-old topped off a stellar 2025 by placing third in the Club Champion award.

North Melbourne general manager of women's football Erin Lorenzini said securing the pair was a massive win for the club’s long-term stability.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have both Kim and Libby extend their time with us at Arden Street," Lorenzini said.

"Kim is a vital component of our midfield mix. She is an outstanding athlete who consistently plays a selfless, team-first role as our primary ruck.

"Likewise, Libby’s impact on our group since joining us has been profound. She brought invaluable experience to our backline, and unsurprisingly she was quick to establish herself as a leader of our group.

"Retaining players of Kim and Libby's calibre sets a fantastic standard for our entire program, they are fantastic role models for our younger players, and know what it takes to build a winning culture."
