North Melbourne Werribee suffered its first loss of the 2026 season, losing by one point against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

The Roos conceded four goals in the opening term, with three of those resulting from giving away free kicks.

The Kangaroos responded to this shaky start well, kicking five of the next six goals over the second and third quarters.

With the game tied going into the fourth quarter, neither team could find a decisive goal, but the Dogs managed to kick two behinds to the Kangas' one.

The final score at Avalon Airport Oval saw North Melbourne Werribee fall 5.4 (34) to 5.3 (33).

Midfield duo Ava Seton (29 disposals, one goal) and Alana Barba (24 disposals, one goal) starred in defeat for the Roos. They were elite at winning the ball, notching a combined 15 clearances.

Tahlia Meier was the leading goalkicker for the match, pairing her two goals with 16 disposals and four marks.

Dancing Dojiok

Nyakoat Dojiok continued to dazzle by kicking a goal of the year contender in the second quarter. After kicking the ball to Kelsie Ternes inside 50, ‘Nike’ ran past a defender to get the handball receive, then danced between two more defenders to finish the play with a checkside goal. 

The ladder now

With a month remaining in the home-and-away season, North Melbourne Werribee sits second on the ladder with nine wins and one loss. First-placed Collingwood and third-placed Williamstown have the same amount of wins but have played an extra game compared to the Roos.
