Abby Favell is set to make her AFLW debut in North Melbourne's Round 3 clash against the Western Bulldogs in Launceston.

A delighted Favell learned the news from her teammates at Arden St on Thursday morning, one day after her 24th birthday. 

The midfielder was called up to the club's AFLW list as a replacement player ahead of the 2026 season, following an ACL injury to Amy Smith in June.

Originally from Geelong's VFLW program, Favell crossed to Arden Street ahead of the 2026 VFLW season and quickly made her mark. 

Playing on a wing and through the midfield, she averaged over 21 disposals, eight tackles, and four clearances during the early stages of the year, ultimately earning a well-deserved promotion to the senior squad.

North Melbourne general manager of women's football Erin Lorenzini said Favell has impressed everyone since integrating into the AFLW program.

"Abby has worked incredibly hard since joining our VFLW program and making the step up to the AFLW squad," Lorenzini said.

"Her promotion ahead of the season was a testament to her consistency, drive, and willingness to play her role for the team. 

“She has applied herself brilliantly on and off the field, and has quickly become very well respected among the playing group, we’re all thrilled to see her get this opportunity.”

The Roos will take on the Bulldogs in Saturday's Indigenous Round match at UTAS Stadium from 12.35pm.
