North Melbourne Werribee has made history at IKON Park on Sunday, beating Williamstown 4.1 (25) to 1.6 (12) to win a third-straight VFLW premiership for the first time in the competition’s history.

The match got off to a slow start, with only one behind being registered in the first 15 minutes, but a central kick from captain Renee Tierney set up Stella Reid to kick the first goal of the game.

Williamstown dominated the territory of the second quarter in the warm and windy conditions but could not capitalise on the scoreboard due to the Kangaroos' relentless pressure prevailing.

The end of the term saw Alana Barba crumb a pack inside 50 and snap through a goal, extending the Roos' lead to 10 points at the main break.

The third quarter saw much of the same, except Williamstown were able to capitalise with a goal early in the term.

Towards the end of the premiership quarter, Maddison Torpey was the beneficiary of a 50m penalty and was able to kick truly from 25m out to put the Roos back up by double digits.

The fourth quarter saw both teams turn up the heat as time wound down and the premiership cup was on the line.

Halfway through the fourth quarter, Nyakoat Dojiok wheeled around to get the ball to Renee Tierney just outside the goalsquare, who slotted through a captain’s goal to seal the historic victory.

Midfielder Alana Barba was the star of the day, winning her third Lisa Hardeman Medal (second for North Melbourne Werribee) for best afield.

She earnt this through 29 disposals, eight tackles and a goal, proving herself yet again to be one of the best players in the competition.

Her partner in crime Ava Seton (21 disposals, 13 tackles) was also superb in the midfield. A huge last quarter from her helped guide the Roos to victory.

Stella Reid notched 18 disposals, six tackles and a goal in an incredible game. Last year’s Grand Final hero, she backed up her performance by providing much needed ball-winning for the Kangaroos in the first half.

AFLW-listed Maddison Torpey was dominant in the ruck, managing 27 hitouts to go along with 12 disposals and a crucial third-quarter goal.

Captain Renee Tierney also was incredible for the Roos, providing 16 disposals and the match-sealing major.

Defender Mikayla Hyde (15 disposals, seven intercepts, 6 tackles) was a rock behind the ball, leading the backline in their amazing efforts to hold the Seagulls to one goal from 28 inside 50s.

Poppy Schaap excelled in her half-forward position, providing incredible run-and-carry for the team. She registered 16 disposals, six tackles and three inside 50s.
