First-year Kangaroo Sarah Wall has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 AFLW season.

The Irishwoman sustained an injury to her ACL during North Melbourne Werribee's VFLW Grand Final win over Williamstown on September 20 and will require surgery.

"It's heartbreaking for Sarah, and the whole club will wrap its arms around her through her recovery and rehab," general manager of strategy and women’s football Erin Lorenzini said.

"She has thrown herself into our culture since arriving, and we have no doubt she’ll return even stronger."

Speedster Taylah Gatt is expected to miss further games after spraining an ankle ligament in her long-awaited return from a groin issue against Melbourne on Friday night.

"Her right ankle got caught in a tackle late against Melbourne and she was unable to return to the field … however, she’s avoided any more serious structural damage," senior physiotherapist Billy Williams said.

"Once the initial swelling and pain settles, these injuries can turn a corner really quickly, but we’ll need to monitor her to see how long recovery will take."

Defender Tessa Boyd was a late withdrawal in Round 7 due to back soreness but is likely to train fully this week and be available to face Sydney at Arden Street Oval on Sunday.

Nicole Bresnehan is "steadily progressing" in her calf rehab and is now 2-3 weeks away from a return to play.
